Browse the shopSwiftly earned a reputation as one of our most beloved models — timeless design, classic proportions.
Fondly known as the "farmer's friend", the Garron v2 has earned the moniker by consistently proving its mettle across a wide range of tasks.
A harmonious balance between tradition and performance.
Ask a stalker what they actually carry and the answer is rarely the biggest knife in the cabinet. It is the one that does everything — the gralloch, the skinning, the hundred small jobs around the larder and the farm that fill the rest of the season. The Garron v2 was shaped for exactly that space.
The original Garron was drawn up for larger deer — a long, confident blade with real presence. What the range lacked was a knife between that and the fine-bladed Cael: something with the Garron’s character at a size you would happily wear all day. The v2 fills that gap, with a 114mm (4.5″) blade on classic, unhurried proportions.
The “farmer’s friend” nickname came from the way owners use it. Not reserved for the hill, but out most days — on the farm, in the woodshed, wherever a dependable fixed blade earns its keep. It has quietly become one of the most beloved models we make.
The v2 keeps the Garron’s deep, capable edge but shortens the reach, so it tracks precisely through skinning cuts and stays manageable in close work. Through a season it will open, skin and break down deer, dress game birds, split kindling for the larder stove and still sit comfortably on the belt at the end of it. It is the knife we point to when someone asks for one blade to cover everything without compromise in any direction.
Most Garrons leave the bench in one of our working stainless steels: RWL-34, a high-chromium stainless with excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance; PMC27, a powder-metallurgy steel with a fine grain that takes a keen edge and asks very little maintenance; or AEB-L, the razor-blade stainless whose fine carbides give a very keen edge with good toughness. Traditionalists can have O1 tool steel — a carbon steel that sharpens to an exceptionally fine edge and rewards a little oil and attention.
For something quietly spectacular, we pattern-weld our own stainless Damascus in-house from RWL-34 and PMC27 — Vinland, Gysinge, Ladder, Odin’s Eye, Thor and a dozen other patterns, each combining high corrosion resistance with exceptional edge retention. On a Garron, Damascus turns a working tool into an heirloom without costing it a day’s work.
Every sheath is handmade in-house and moulded to the individual knife it will carry — not to the pattern, to the knife. Leather comes in classic black or brown, or a custom colour; hand-tooled work is available, up to and including engraved silver panels. For those who work in all weathers, Kydex is offered on our hybrid leather carry system.
A Garron is built to outlast its first owner. Every knife carries a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, is numbered and recorded in the workshop ledger before it leaves the bench, and ships sharpened, papered, signed-for and insured. When one comes back years later for a fresh edge, we can look up exactly when it left and what it was made of.
If this is the pattern, the next step is a conversation — or set out the rest of it first in the design tool, and send us the draft.

Every commission starts from the Garron blueprint. Set the steel, handle material, engraving and sheath in the design tool, and we’ll come back with a quote.
